101 Reasons why Babies Cry

Babies know only one way to communicate every uncomfortable feeling - a cry. It's easy, it's quick, it's loud, and it definitely gets the message across. At the very least, they get us to stop whatever the hell it is that we're doing, and take notice. But if they thought that just getting us to take notice is going to solve their problem, they're being babies. 😜

Over the last six months of being a parent, I've come to realise that finding out why your baby is crying is the key to tackling the problem. But here's the hard part: There could be a 101 different reasons (that I know of) for your baby's cry. I'm sure there are many, many more, but here's something to get you started. If your baby is crying and you aren't able to calm him or her down, you may use this list as a reference to at least identify the cause of your baby's discomfort.

A Day in the Life #2 | Sunday, February 19, 2017

WARNING: Extra Long Post with loads of pictures and videos.
This is the second time I've done A Day in The Life (first post here) and thanks to work, not being able to find another cook, and baby's changing sleep schedule, I'm posting this almost three weeks late. Oh, and how did I miss my good friend procrastination? What kind of a writer would I be if I didn't procrastinate? After a terrible sleeping schedule for the last two days, when the baby was alseep before 11:30 PM tonight, instead of writing this post, I watched TVF's Humorously Yours 🙈

But anyway, after I finished that and made a nice to-do list for tomorrow (that I'm definitely going to ditch before noon), I decided it was time to get to work.

So here's what our Sunday looked like, three weeks ago.

Product Review | Soul Slings, Meh Dai

Babywearing has become one of the first 'Right Decisions' I made as a mother and I made this decision even before my baby was born. I started Being Mamma Bear back when I was still in my First Trimester and I stumbled on to the world of Babywearing very early on. I didn't know its benefits but I wanted to do it looking at all those snuggly photos of babies cosied up with their parents.
I wore my baby for the first time when she was barely two weeks old and I loved it. I don't intend to stop anytime soon. In fact, I plan to wear her for as long as she lets me. So it was no surprise that when I was asked if I would like to try on one of Soul Slings' Meh Dai carriers for use and review, I'd say yes. I hadn't tried a Meh Dai carrier yet, and so this allowed me do that as well.

Bedtime Routine? Yes, Please!

For the first five weeks or so, my baby had a very predictable routine. She woke up early in the morning around 7, took a few cat naps here and there between then and noon, and then, after her maalish and bath that started at noon but went on till 1 PM, she would sleep for a good 4-5 hours at least only waking up to feed. Then she would play in the evenings, but feed every one hour till around 10:30 or 11 PM and when she would fall sleep only to wake up once in 4 hours – at 2:30/3 AM and 6:30/7 AM.
During those days, I was well rested since I got to sleep in two 4-hour long stretches every night, and had quite a bit of free time at hand. Of course, those days my mother was here too. That made a BIG difference since I had to do nothing in the kitchen or any other house chores. Once I was done feeding and changing the baby, I didn’t even have to get her to go to sleep because there were others more than eager to hold her.
And then my mother went back to work.

WARNING: Extra Long Post with loads of pictures and videos.
On Sunday, I did something I have never done before in my life: I documented my entire day. Ideally, I should have done this once before I got pregnant, once in each trimester, and then again, after the baby's birth to actually compare how my life has changed. But that's okay. If you aren't pregnant yet, maybe you can do that. But for me, I will now make this a monthly feature.
I did this for a few reasons.
The memories.Isn't that why this blog exists? Isn't that why I click all these pictures? Many years later, I may or may not even remember all the important days, let alone the ordinary ones. Well, here's to ordinary days.
For some perspective.I feel like my entire day goes by and there is so much more I could have done. Am I wasting time doing unneccessary things? Could I have planned something better? A good, detailed look at one day of your life can give you those answeres. Unfortunately, as this was …

Baby Update: 18 Weeks Old

I swear I really intend to post about stuff other than my baby's weekly and monthly updates. It's just that just when I think I have figured a schedule out for my baby and that now she will stick to it, she laughs at my plans or cries her lungs out and after that, I reaaaaally don't have the energy to blog.

So for now, at least I'm blogging about her week and this blog isn't inactive anymore.

Here's what happened in Week 18 of Baby Bear's life.

Baby Milestone | 4 Months Old

This is going to be a quick post because I've covered the details in the Weekly Posts.
My baby turned 4 Months Old over the weekend. Like I click weekly pictures, I also do monthly photos with balloons - as many as the number of months she's been with us :) I also list major events, milestones, her likes and dislikes during the period and using the 1 Second Everyday App, create a video that compiles one-second snippets of every day during that month.
Here she is, at 4 months old.
